Irwin County Elementary School received a special visit from State Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods. Superintendent Woods spoke to the fourth graders about the importance of historical documents like the United States Constitution, and he provided a copy of the Constitution for each student to keep.

Superintendent Woods also recognized Mrs. Alecia Martin and the third grade team with the John Hancock Award for working with the students last year on learning cursive writing and how to sign their names. Signatures are important throughout life, and as Mr. Woods pointed out, many historical documents are written in cursive.

I.C.E.S. deeply appreciates Superintendent Woods' visit and the recognition of our teachers' and students' hard work

Hello, Irwin County Elementary parents, guardians, and community members!

Our school would greatly appreciate your help in growing our school library collection and, most importantly, growing readers and leaders for the next generation of Irwin County!

Access to high-quality, high-interest books is an essential part of helping our students develop a love of reading and become confident, lifelong learners.

Please consider supporting our school library by purchasing an item from our Library Wish List. Every book donated makes a difference and puts an exciting new story into the hands of an Irwin County student. The books on this list are aligned with state guidelines, and all items have accompanying Accelerated Reader quizzes that students can take.

As an alternative to purchasing an item, sharing this post is another wonderful way to support our students!

Thank you so much for supporting Irwin County Elementary School, our students, and our future readers and leaders. We are truly grateful for our amazing community! ❤️🖤
